Rolling Megaguide

Rolling Wormholes in EVE Online

First off let me acknowledge there are dozens of guides on the internet already as to how to roll wormholes "correctly", I don't claim that our way is any better than anyone else's, in fact it's almost certainly slower than some alternatives. But we prefer to build our methods on minimum risk of losing rollers on the wrong side, minimizing risk of human error causing issues, and simplifying the process for people who have as little as just one Battleship.

If you find any issues, in the sense of incorrect data, please send an EVE Mail in game to "Lasse Ker'Khan" or @ me on Discord if you're in T3C.

Terminology & Expected Knowledge

If you're on this page and don't know what rolling is, probably look up some basics first. I'll avoid going into the smallest of detail here.

  • Terms
    • Cold: Prop Mod Off. Mass Entanglers on if applicable.
    • Hot: Prop Mod On.
    • OUT: Leaving the system you are planning to stay in.
    • IN: Returning to the system you are planning to stay in.
    • Large Roller: A rolling battleship with a mass as close to 200 Million Kg as possible without going over.
      • It also needs a Higgs Anchor so that turning on a 500MN or 100MN Prop Mod adds exactly 100 Million Kg.
    • Large Hic: A rolling Hictor designed to maximize mass when not entangled.
    • Medium Roller: A rolling cruiser with mass of exactly 12 Million Kg Cold, and 62 Hot.
      • an overpropped Moa fits this neatly.
    • Medium Hic: A rolling Hictor designed to be as close to 62 Million kg as possible when Hot.

Note that rolling mediums is rare, I've never once needed a Medium Hic before in thousands of hours of playing.
If the type is K162 and you cannot yet identify types by looking in the 3D environment, jump through in something light like a shuttle or frigate to check type, then use Anoikis to identify size.
The charts list in Million instead of Billion because I've used Kg here in the wiki and Tons when making the chart, I assume you would've worked that out though.

Rolling Charts

Note that if you cannot field as many battleships as are listed in a step, you can simply make multiple passes, just make sure to run COLD or HOT correctly. (e.g for the 750k Battleship wormhole, if it's fresh but you only have one battleship do one COLD -> COLD pass, then wait out polarization and do a COLD -> HOT pass. This has the same effect as doing both at the same time with two rollers.)

Extra Large (Capital)

Even though Supercarriers are below the limit of 2 Billion Kg, they have a special exception built in and cannot enter wormholes.
Rolling extra large holes to Highsec cannot be done with a Capital Ship, technically freighters can but it's cumbersome and easier to just treat them as regular battleship 3 Billion Kg holes.

For regular 3.3 Billion Kg holes (any not involving Highsec are 3.3, not 3), plate yourself to just over 1.815 Billion Kg, fit a Capital Prop Mod, and do one HOT -> HOT pass If the wormhole is fresh. If you do not know for sure it's fresh then you either risk rolling out the capital, or roll it the following subcapital method.

Larger (Battleship)

Not much to say here, the most standard mass of wormholes. You will roll a lot of these if you choose to live in J Space. I take this time to curse the C3 -> Highsec Static once again for how painful it is to close.

Note: 2M Error, if the wormhole is not crit and you do a Hic Pass you can take it HOT HOT, not COLD HOT.

Medium (Battlecruiser)

Often called cruiser holes in the same way that smalls can fit all destroyers but are called frigate holes.
